Bishop-Elect Paul Dempsey

On Monday, January 27th 2020, Pope Francis appointed Fr Paul Dempsey, a priest of the Diocese of Kildare & Leighlin, to be the Bishop of Achonry.  The announcement was made by the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo, at Mass in The Cathedral of The Annunciation and St Nathy.

Bishop-Elect Dempsey will be ordained bishop on Sunday April 19th.  The Principal Consecrator will be the Archbishop of Tuam, Michael Neary, assisted by the Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin, Denis Nulty and the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo.
