The Principal Consecrator will be Archbishop Michael Neary, Archbishop of Tuam, assisted by His Excellency, Archbishop Jude Thaddaeus Okolo, Papal Nuncio to Ireland and Bishop Denis Nulty, Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin.

Thank you for visiting the website of the Diocese of Achonry. We are a Roman Catholic Diocese, located in the West of Ireland with twenty-three parishes in Counties Roscommon, Mayo and Sligo. Our Cathedral, named The Annunciation and St Nathy, is located in Ballaghaderreen, Co. Roscommon.
There are twenty five priests in parish ministry, two in education ministry within the diocese and two working outside the diocese. We have also a small number of retired priests, some of whom continue to provide pastoral care within the diocese. Female Religious in the diocese include the Sisters of Mercy, Marist Sisters and Sisters of St Joseph of The Apparition.

On Monday, January 27th 2020, Pope Francis announced the appointment of Fr Paul Dempsey, P.P, Newbridge, Co. Kildare as Bishop of Achonry. He will be ordained in the Cathedral of The Annunciation and St Nathy, Ballaghaderreen on Sunday April 19th.
