Spent first few months of my priesthood working alongside Dermot – he was a curate in Kilkelly and I was in Kilmovee and Carracastle. Quickly I came to know him as a good humoured man, full of energy and a joy to be around. We kept in contact through the years and I always enjoyed meeting him and chatting with him. Was saddened in more recent years to see how illness laid a hand on him. Seldom, if ever heard him complain about this but it took its toll on his outgoing ways. He was well liked and respected and will be remembered always as one with whom we had the chance to share a few miles. Deepest sympathies to his family and friends. God rest you Dermot.
